Metro Line 6-Orange Next Steps

The Metro Line 6-Orange megaproject, valued at R$18 billion and spanning 15.3 km from Vila Brasilândia to São Joaquim, expects a partial inauguration in 2026 to reduce travel time from 90 to 23 minutes. Project teams must now complete remaining segments and integrate stations before the targeted partial opening.

Highway and Rail Program Decisions

The São Paulo State Government launched 'SP for Every Project' (SP pra Toda Obra), the largest highway modernization program in the state's history, with R$30 billion in investments covering over 1,500 works across 22,300 km. Governor Tarcísio de Freitas launched the 'SP on Rail' plan, a R$194 billion ($37.2 billion) investment program comprising over 40 inter-city, commuter, metro, and light rail projects totaling over 1,000 km. Officials will allocate remaining funds and select concession partners for the next stages of these programs.

Rodoanel and Tunnel Progress

Construction has resumed on the northern stretch of the Mário Covas Rodoanel, with the first phase of the North Rodoanel ring road scheduled for completion in September 2025, while the Santos-Guarujá tunnel project (R$6 billion) moves forward.
